Instructions
  1. 1

    Make a quick simple syrup

Stir the sugar into 2 cups of boiling water until it fully dissolves, then set it aside to cool a little. This is the only 'sweetener' in here, and a splash of syrup blends in way smoother than granulated sugar that just sinks to the bottom.

  1. 2

    Blend the fruit

Hull and quarter the strawberries and cube the watermelon. Working in batches so you don't overflow the blender, blend the strawberries and watermelon until completely smooth and liquid.

  2. 3

    Strain it smooth

Pour the blended fruit through a fine-mesh strainer into a large pitcher, pressing to get all the juice through. Don't skip this — straining out the pulp and seeds is what makes it a sippable lemonade instead of a thick smoothie.

  3. 4

    Mix and taste

Stir the thawed lemonade concentrate, lemon juice, and the cooled sugar water into the pitcher of strained juice. Give it a taste — add a little more lemon if you want more tang, or more syrup if your watermelon wasn't super sweet.

  4. 5

    Serve over ice

Fill glasses with plenty of ice and pour. Best served cold the day you make it, when the color is brightest and the flavor is freshest.
