Brown the turkey
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground turkey along with the diced onion, minced shallot, and minced garlic. Cook, breaking the turkey into crumbles, until it is no longer pink and the vegetables are tender, 8-10 minutes. Drain off any excess liquid.

Simmer the sweet potato
Peel and dice the sweet potato into small cubes. Stir it into the skillet along with the tomato paste, chicken broth, smoked paprika, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer covered until the sweet potato is fork-tender, about 10 minutes.

Wilt the kale
Stir in the chopped kale and a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes. Cook uncovered until the kale is wilted, about 2 minutes longer.

Spoon into bowls and top with sliced avocado. A little fresh mint on top is optional but nice.
