Brown the beef with the vegetables
In a 6-quart stockpot (any big, deep pot works), cook the ground beef with the sliced mushrooms, chopped onion, minced garlic, and Italian seasoning over medium-high heat until the beef is no longer pink, about 6 to 8 minutes. Crumble the meat as it cooks, then drain off the grease.

Sauce it and cook the pasta right in the pot
Add the pasta sauce, salt, and water and bring it to a boil. Stir in the rotini and bring it back to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer, covered, for 8 to 10 minutes, until the pasta is al dente. Stir it every couple minutes so nothing sticks to the bottom. Serve topped with the parmesan.

- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 1/2 cup water
- 8 oz whole wheat rotini
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
