Instructions
- 1
Warm the mug
Pour boiling water into your mug and let it sit for a minute, then dump it out. A warm mug keeps the whole drink hot longer, and it takes ten seconds.
- 2
Build the base
Add the honey and freshly squeezed lemon juice to the warm mug. Get the honey in first so it has something to melt into.
- 3
Add the hot water
Pour in the hot (just-off-the-boil) water and stir until the honey fully dissolves. No honey sludge at the bottom.
- 4
Pour and garnish
Add the bourbon, give it a gentle stir, and drop in a lemon slice and a cinnamon stick. Sip it while it's steaming.

Notes & Tips
The move-no-one-regrets fall drink. Ratio is 1 honey : 2 lemon : a generous pour of bourbon, stretched with hot water to taste. Bourbon is classic but rum, scotch, or brandy all work. Mocktail swap: skip the booze, build it on hot black tea or apple cider instead of water, and add an extra splash of lemon so it still has a backbone. Either way, cinnamon stick is non-negotiable.
