Cream the butter, sugars, and peanut butter
Preheat your oven to 350°F. Cream the softened butter, peanut butter, sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy, about 5-7 minutes. Don't rush this step — the mixture should turn pale and fluffy, which is what gives these cookies their soft, tender texture. Beat in the egg until fully combined.

Mix in the dry ingredients
In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Beat the flour mixture into the peanut butter mixture until just combined.
- 3
Shape and bake
Drop the dough by level tablespoonfuls, spaced 2 inches apart, onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake until light brown, 10-12 minutes.
- 4
Add the kisses and cool
As soon as the cookies come out of the oven, immediately press an unwrapped chocolate kiss into the center of each one — the warm cookie will hold it in place as it sets. Let the cookies cool on the pan for 2 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
